3D Environment with Simple Geometry

One of the biggest challenges with making a sort of artsy level like this is the fact that I started with the initial concept of a tiered hole.  This wasn't too bad in terms of design thanks to Maya's back-face culling, but actually taking screenshots of the entire situation was a logistical nightmare.

Crane Animation and Screenshots in Unreal

Having entered FIEA with a basic level Maya practice, the assignment wasn't too difficult up until this point.  That being said, we'll be importing it into Unreal Engine 5 next, which I'm much less familiar with.  Importing isn't usually too bad though.

I then implemented the crane in unreal, taking some artistic liberties with the hi rez screenshots we needed to take.  This part was thankfully quite straightforward.

Thumbnails and Silhouettes

It took a long time to really rough out some unique ideas, but I ended up building out 8 redesigns of the public domain character Faust.  Now, the iconic individual who sold his soul for infinite wealth and pleasure is entering the Octagon and the Devil's in his corner!  It's the UFC and Literary Classic Crossover that no one expected.  Just remember it's not THAT Faust!

I started with thumbnails so that I could get a better idea of the direction I wanted to take each concept, then did my best to make each silhouette dynamic and interesting.

Week 01 Homework 01

Better late than never on posting this!  A few shapes and materials to orient myself with Maya once again.

Module 1 Week 02 Homework

This was one heck of an assignment!  I feel like for the most part, the projects were easy to follow along but I definitely got frustrated in the middle there.  At least I was able to pull through when I decided to stop trying to copy the exact shapes.

In hindsight I could probably have pushed the kitbash more, but for the time being I settled on using some of the techniques we learned to build some props for the robot to interact with.

Moving Objects in Maya

Decided to spend some extra time on this assignment to help get refreshed on Maya animating and key framing.

Cell shading or bust!  Had a fun time with this one but excited to nap afterward.
